Teacher Aide Position
We are seeking a compassionate and attentive teacher aide to provide support for a young student with autism and additional care needs. The ideal candidate will be calm, caring, and quick to respond, with the ability to maintain consistent routines throughout the school day.
Hours:
8:30 am-10:40 am (increasing hours as the year progresses according to the transition plan)
Responsibilities:
Assist with personal care routines/toileting and ensure the student’s comfort and hygiene.
Maintain close supervision, particularly in potentially distracting environments.
Support transitions and manage situations that may cause the student to become unsettled.
Ensure a safe, clean environment, preventing access to anything that may pose a risk.
Essential Qualities:
Calm & Supportive - Able to provide reassurance and care when needed.
Firm but Fair - Help establish and maintain consistent routines.
Vigilant & Quick-Acting - Ready to respond swiftly to any unexpected situations.
Routine is Vital - A structured approach will be essential in helping the student feel secure and supported throughout their day.
